MESSAGE FROM THE CEOAs the communications market has evolved in recent years, so has SpiriTel. As businesses have been assessing the opportunities that arise from 'converged communications', SpiriTel has been focusing on developing a robust business model that offers value to both customers and investors. It has been an incredible few years for the Group. We have restructured our business to focus on long term relationships with business customers and brought together a board and management team focused on delivering sustainable growth in this market. We have acquired and integrated twelve businesses into the Group and grown our customer base and product portfolio to record levels. We now have approximately 4,000 SME and corporate clients, including Whitbread and BBC Worldwide. I am particularly pleased with the progress we have made in delivering products and services based on emerging IP technologies. The VoIP hype of the last decade has left behind a number of casualties but we have built upon our strong foundations in IP based communications to deliver a new range of networking, Wi-Fi and VoIP services alongside our traditional voice and data product portfolio. We are enabling our customers to provide an improved service, reduce costs and increase business efficiencies through the adoption of these technologies. Our recent awards are testament to our standing as one of the UK’s leading providers of IP based communications services for businesses. COMPANY STRATEGYOur strategy is to deliver shareholder value by generating growth organically, by strengthening customer relationships and by the acquisition of businesses with complementary product and skill sets. Twelve successful acquisitions, strong organic growth and the resulting return to profitability since our April 2007 year end are evidence of the success of this strategy. SpiriTel has evolved into a ‘complete business communications’ service provider of converged voice and data solutions, with the objective that customers recognise SpiriTel as a fully accredited centre of excellence for its product lines. In addition, we also provide the technology to reduce travel by communicating more effectively, including increased scope for home working with our IP based solutions. This policy will be reviewed and revised every 12 months. CommunitySpiriTel has been involved in sponsoring a number of organisations such as HopeHIV (registered charity no.1079385). We have been fundraising to support a brand new project, led by Karen Millen, to educate children orphaned by AIDS in South Africa. SpiriTel also supports its staff in their fund-raising activities and matches every pound raised by staff. As a managed service provider to Virgin Mobile, SpiriTel also donates through business by operating the 118 918 directory enquiries service, which gives a record breaking 20p per call to charity.
